Easy Care Blooming Duo for a Hot Spot

Garden success is assured with this easy-to-copy plant duo that includes Sedum 'Autumn Joy' and a golden-leaved variety of bluebeard called Caryopteris incana 'Jason'. This sun worshipping, drought-tolerant, deciduous shrub presents a classic color combo in summer when covered with blue flowers atop golden yellow foliage. It's joined by Sedum 'Autumn Joy', a widely grown perennial for good reason; it's tough, reliable and bullet-proof. Attractive succulent foliage emerges in spring, and topped by umbels of bloom by summer that if left in place form attractive dried seed heads for fall and early winter interest. This little garden is alive with life all summer long; the blooms of both are attractive to butterflies, hummingbirds and bees. To mix it up this combo would work equally well substituting a similar Sedum variety such as S. 'Matrona' or S. 'Mr. Goodbud'. Together these two plants provide months of garden enjoyment from summer to late fall.
