Shrub Combo for Mixed Border

This front yard-worthy planting combination has a pleasing seasonal flow. In late winter / early spring the paperbush (Edgeworthia chrysantha) bears pretty blooms on bare branch that are wonderfully fragrant. In leaf, the Edgeworthia has attractive blue gray foliage. Later in the season the dark foliage of the ninebark (Physocarpus opuliofolius 'Monlo') provides a perfect foil for creamy clusters of white flowers which develop attractive seed heads by fall. The cheery yellow foliage of the Mexican orange (Choisya ternata 'Sundance') is a source of constant cheer but it also offers up fragrant spring blooms and aromatic foliage.
