Heuchera 'Plum Pudding'

Plum Pudding Heuchera, Coral Bells

Evergreen, Semi-evergreen Perennial

Heuchera 'Plum Pudding' is one of the more reliable performers in a genus that can be hit-or-miss. The foliage is deep purple with a metallic sheen that holds through most of the season—useful as a foliage accent in containers, at the front of a border, or woven through a mixed bed. It's a stronger, more vigorous grower than many heuchera cultivars, which is the main reason to choose it over flashier options that tend to sulk.

Like most heuchera, 'Plum Pudding' will eventually heave out of the ground as the crown grows woody. When that happens—typically after a few years—lift the plant and replant in late summer or early fall with the crown just at or slightly above soil level. Don't bury it deeply; that only accelerates rot.
