Hosta 'Sagae'

Sagae Hosta, Plantain Lily

Herbaceous Perennial

A classic hosta with large, bold variegated leaves—blue-green in the center with a wide, irregular margin that emerges yellow-gold in spring and fades to creamy white by midsummer. The wavy leaf edge adds movement, and the thick texture offers better slug resistance than most. This is a large plant: a mature clump can reach 3 feet tall and 4–5 feet across, with tall lavender flower scapes rising above the foliage in summer. Give it room and a spot where it can be seen. A Great Plants Pick for the maritime Pacific Northwest and the 2000 American Hosta Growers Association Hosta of the Year.
